 Traditional Roast Turkey |

Ingredients
1 turkey, weighing 5kg/11-12lb
125g/4oz butter
Method Heat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas4.
Put the turkey in a large roasting tin and smear over the butter.
Cover with foil and roast in the oven for 3-3½ hours. Baste every 20 minutes with the buttery juices.
40 minutes before the end of cooking take off the foil so the turkey becomes golden brown. It is ready when you pierce the thigh with a skewer and the juices run clear.
Allow to rest for 30 minutes covered in foil before carving. Serve with chipolatas, bacon rolls, stuffing, bread sauce, cranberry sauce and gravy. |
