Silver Sand

Lime-free horticultural grade sand

Description

Silver Sand is a favourite amongst gardeners as it provides countless options for use in and around the garden.

Lime-free, it primarily consists of quartz particles which are not coated in iron oxides, making it perfect for adding to growing media.

Silver Sand:

  • Improves aeration
  • Ideal as a top dressing for lawns
  • Can be mixed with peat to make compost for cuttings.

Washed and dried, Silver Sand has a horticultural grade quality which is perfect for seed sowing, setting cuttings and for use in compost mixes.

Silver Sand can also be mixed with peat and loam for a perfect lawn top dressing.

Alternatively, Silver Sand can be used to mark out seed beds or forked into heavier soils to improve drainage and reduce water-logging.

Unlike other grits and sands, Silver Sand is not usually used for mortar or concrete when paving or laying slabs.
