Andy McIndoe receives an award

VGW ambassador awarded Veitch Memorial Medal

Vitax Garden World’s (VGW) very own gardening ambassador has been awarded the prestigious Veitch Memorial Medal by the Royal Horticultural Society. Andy McIndoe, an outstanding plantsman and practical horticulturist, was one of just five recipients who received the award in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the science, art and practice of horticulture.

The Veitch Memorial Medal is one of the highest accolades in horticulture and is awarded to those who have dedicated their lives to sharing their love of plants and gardens.

Over the past 40 years Andy has designed 25 gold medal-winning gardens for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, written nine books, lectured worldwide and is a garden designer, author, radio presenter and horticultural consultant.

In November 2016, Andy became the voice of Vitax Garden World helping experienced and knowledgeable gardeners with projects for the upcoming season and providing solutions to common garden problems.  He also works with the charity Greenfingers to create gardens for childrens’ hospices.

Receiving the Veitch Memorial Award from Sir Nicholas Bacon, President of the Royal Horticultural Society, Andy says: “I consider myself to be very fortunate to have been able to do what I love day in, day out for the past forty years and long may it continue. During this time I have worked with some amazing gardeners and horticulturists, travelled the world lecturing and imparted my knowledge to those embarking on their careers.

“The RHS is a great organisation and I am honoured to be part of it.  This award is definitely a highlight of my own career.”

Andy has just finished filming the first video for Vitax Garden World and will be releasing new projects and videos over the coming months.
