Apple Bobbing Float apples in a large bowl filled with water. The object of this game is to grab one of the apples and remove it from the water without using your hands. You must use only your mouth. This is a very messy, very wet, and very fun game. It is even more challenging if the stems are removed from the apples. |

Wink Murder One player is secretly designated the "murderer". This can be done by drawing lots: each player draws a piece of paper from a hat. They are all marked "victim" except for one marked "murderer". Prepare only enough for the number of players. Alternatively, the host can secretly tap one player to be the "murderer".
All players must sit in a circle and be able to see each participant's face easily. The murderer tries to "kill" the other players by winking at them. If a player is winked at, he or she must die (as dramatically as possible, of course!. Encourage theatrics!)
A warning to the murderer: wink discreetly. A player who witnesses the crime (and is not yet killed off) can become a "witness". This player shouts "Witness!" and names the killer. If the witness is right, he or she is a winner, and a new round starts. If the witness is wrong, however, that person also dies. A player who has a hunch about the killer, may shout "Detective!" and guess the murderer's identity. Beware! A wrong hunch results in that player also dying. The murderer wins if all but one "victim" is killed off. Note: "Victims" are forbidden to wink!

Pumpkin Bowling Knock over the bowling pins. Make a strike or a spare. Select several small pumpkins about four to six inches in diameter. You need extras in case a few split or break. Place empty plastic liter bottles as bowling pins several feet away on the lawn or floor of the room.
Suggestion: You could let the kids decorate the bottles with Halloween objects before the game.
Measure off several feet. Give each child two tries to knock down the pins. Give prizes for strikes (clearing all the "pins" in one bowl) or for a spare (clearing all the "pins" with two bowls). This game can also be played in teams. The team with the most points at the end of the game is the winner. |

Spoon Game This is great for Halloween parties for older kids or adults. It is similar to blind man bluff. You blindfold one person and put a wooden spoon in each of his/hers hands. Then spin the person around a few times while everyone moves about the room. Then everyone must freeze. The blindfolded person then tries to find someone. When he does he then feels the shape of the person who is caught using only the spoons. This is very hard but having costumes on help cause you may feel a hat or can tell the person has on a long cape, etc. It is quite funny as the person with the spoons has no idea where he or she might be poking the person. The person has three guesses to figure out who he has caught. If he guesses right, then the other person is IT. |

Pin the mouth on the Pumpkin This game is similar to the well known pin the tail on the donkey.
Using a large piece of orange poster board draw a pumpkin as big as the poster board. Draw triangle eyes and nose with a black magic marker. Using some card as a template draw a pumpkin mouth with teeth. Use the template cut out from old newspaper as many mouths as you think you will need.
Blindfold the person playing giving them a pumpkin mouth with blu-tack on the back. Then spin him or her around but facing the pumpkin at the end. Have them try to stick the mouth onto the pumpkin where they think it should be. Have a big X marked where it should go.
The person with the mouth closest to the X is the winner.

"Dem" Bones Relay Race Buy a plastic Halloween skeleton and disassemble the parts. Hide the parts throughout the house or garden. Team members must run around the room and find all their parts and reassemble their skeleton. This can be done one team at a time, timing each to see who has completed the task in the shortest time frame. Or, teams can compete simultaneously, with each team having their parts of the skeleton colour coded or labelled. Try this game with glow-in-the-dark skeletons too. |
