 It is important to choose the right type of fuel for your barbecue and remember to light your charcoal barbecue at least 45 minutes before you want to start cooking. Check the manufacturers instructions that came with your barbecue to make certain that you use the correct fuel type.
Lighting up
Never use petrol, methylated spirit, paraffin or white spirit to light the barbecue. Add barbecue gel or firelighters, but always be careful to follow the instructions on the pack. Dispose of barbecue ashes carefully, especially when you are cooking in the countryside or on the beach. You should take any spent fuel home with you – carefully wrap it in foil, place on a tray or in a pan and pour water over to cool it before you take it away with you. |
