Philip Swindells
Philip SwindellsPhilip Swindells is a water gardening specialist with a long experience of growing aquatic plants in many parts of the world.

He trained at the University of Cambridge Botanic Garden and the famous aquatic nursery of Perrys Hardy Plant Farm, and ultimately became Curator of Harlow Carr Botanical Gardens, Harrogate.

Currently a horticultural consultant advising on a wide range of projects, many relating to the restoration and management of historic gardens, particularly water gardens. For example, he has recently advised on the restoration of St Petersburg Botanical Gardens, Russia and the establishment of Sharjah National Botanical Gardens, United Arab Emirates.

The author of many publications on water gardening, Philip was also formerly the editor of the Water Garden Journal of the International Waterlily Society who 1994 inducted him into their Hall of Fame. He was awarded a Mary Hellier Scholarship in 1990 by the International Plant Propagator's Society for pioneering work on the propagation of waterlilies.
