Q: How far apart should peonies be planted?

A: From 75 cm to 1.5 metres (2.5 to 5 ft) centre to centre depending on the variety and look you want to achieve.

Peonies look great as specimen plants as well as in groups. Typically plant peonies on 1-meter (3 foot) centres. Do not plant peonies much closer than 75 cm (30 inches) centre to centre. This minimum spacing ensures some air circulation and not too much root competition. Some varieties however grow quite wide ex. Postillion, White Innocence and a wider spacing would be advisable.
